Funny Nicorette Shark Commercial

Cigarette...cigarette...cigarette...PRODUCT (Nicorette) used...SHARK!!!

How can you not laugh at this wonderful depiction of addiction? We're all addicted to something (if you can't tell I'm addicted to TV) and we have all been obsessed with the idea of that thing when we can't get to it right then and there. [For me I haven't been able to watch the latest True Blood episode yet and every other word outta my mouth is "true" or "blood"] So even if you are not a smoker this is the type of commercial you can associate with and in doing so remember for the smokers who are in your life. In fact I witnessed as a non-smoker was telling a smoker to quit, and referenced this commercial. That is called GREAT marketing!

And then the physical comedy that this man does...I man, what is a couple of punches to the head really gonna do to that shark? He even tries to kick at it...FAIL!

Interview with Grant Bowler

OK, from time to time I will post actual TV Guide posts...unless they get mad and force me to take it down. I will always acknowledge the article as one coming from TVGuide.com and any comments that come from me are NOT associates with TV Guide or TV Guide Networks in any way shape or form. I just love the publication and it's a big part of TV as an industry, and a site I often check.

Below is a wonderful interview with one of the newest cast members of one of my favorite shows (a phrase I'll probably write a lot....but True Blood is special...I write something about that later...), and it delivers a little tease about our favorite country waitress...except... (see my comment after the interview)

True Blood's Grant Bowler: Sookie Is "More Special Than You Think"

Jun 25, 2010 by Gina DiNunno

Grant Bowler, True Blood
True Blood is all about werewolves this season — and not the pretty-boy Twilightkind. We're talking vicious, neck-branded neo-Nazis who drink vampire blood to feed their addiction. TVGuide.com caught up with Grant Bowler, who plays werewolf pack leader Cooter in seven episodes this season, to find out who Cooter reallyworks for, how far is too far for executive producer Alan Ball, what it will mean for his relationship with Bill (Stephen Moyer) and what's down the road for Sookie (Anna Paquin).

TVGuide.com: What can you tell us about Cooter and his pack?Grant Bowler: Cooter is a joy to play. I play him like a redneck Romeo. [Laughs] These werewolves have a very strong agenda; they're not just kicking around looking for someone to beat on.

TVGuide.com: What can we expect between Cooter and Bill now that Bill seems to be cooperating with the King of Mississippi (Denis O'Hare)?Bowler: It starts off professional with them, but it gets personal very, very quickly. I love the relationship that develops between the two. They just hate each others' guts and need each other dead. It's a really strong, fun dynamic to play.

TVGuide.com: Were you a fan of the show before signing on?Bowler: Yes. Right from the beginning, I felt like Alan was writing a comedy — like the world's darkest comedy. And I love it. I got on to the show very quickly.

TVGuide.com: What's it been like acting in some of those really dark, graphic scenes?Bowler: The amazing thing about True Blood is how far they're prepared to go. I've never heard one of the directors, or Alan, or any of the writers once say, "Uh, that's going too far. Can you pull back?" Whenever I was on set and it felt like we were pushing it too far, we'd look over at them and they'd be grinning and making "go further" motions to us. I think that's unique to the show. It's incredibly freeing as an actor to be working with people who are so adventurous, unafraid and just want to push everything.

TVGuide.com: What was it like on set with that cast?Bowler: I think there were 34 actors and every one of them was as sharp as a tack, perfectly cast, and brilliant at what they do. It just makes it a joy to walk into work and know you have to bring your best game. And they're incredibly welcoming and fun to work with. It's very laid-back, and they laugh their butts off. They have to — that material is so dark and so fraught. They just laugh from dawn until the next dawn.

TVGuide.com: Any teasers for us diehards?Bowler: Expect stuff out of Sookie that you've never seen before. She's a bit special, that girl — a lot more special than you think.

...if you were really diehard fan you probably have picked up the books already and know Sookie's "secret". ... (don't scroll down if you don't wanna know)

Discovery Channel - The World Is Just Awesome 1 & 2 (official)

This was the first Network all inclusive commercial I saw, and as an AVID Discovery Channel watcher I damn near cried at it's beauty. Unlike the Bravo one Discovery Channel has soo much actual substance and depth that part of the group thats being included, as a major character on the Network, is the Earth! And look at this, it's a form of viral marketing as well as a sequenced set of commercials. Check out what The Discovery Channel has posted on their youtube page with these commercials:

To all fans of the whole world and all its sights and sounds,

People around the world have been creating their own versions of our 'Boom De Ah Dah' commercial and uploading them to YouTube. We love them so much that we want to call out to ALL of our talented friends out there and ask you to show us YOUR version of the song! Simply upload your video to your YouTube page and then send us the link to your song.

We will be posting the best and most creative submissions on our Discovery.com website, adding them to "The 'Boom De Ah Dah' Phenomenon" playlist and also featuring them on our Facebook and Myspace pages!

See, these commercials won awards! Beautiful Discovery Channel, simply beautiful...^_^

Oh, and BTW, notice how the first commercial starts with the two guys looking at the world and being over-filled with emotion...so much that they "just want to break out into song?" Yes. I say yes to that sort of thinking, because sometimes music is the only way to express true feelings!!! So yes, I have a hard-on for musical commercials...so sue me.

Summer By Bravo spot featuring Macy Gray's Kissed It

Now I can't lie, well I can but I'm not going to right now, I don't watch a lot of Bravo but I truly enjoy when Networks do these all inclusive commercials to promote the Network as well as the shows we know and love. I think it is brilliant marketing, though obviously more geared towards those who are already fans and can recognize the people (I only knew most of them from their commercials for their individual shows). But it gives me the feeling as an audience member that by watching this Network (Bravo) I'm watching a harmonious grouping of shows that is interesting and part of the lifestyle I want. Speaking of lifestyle, the design really grabs me as a fun summer party I'd like to attend, and as a city girl I appreciate seeing it on the rooftop. It truly gives the audience the feeling of been at a high class, rooftop pool party which will make them want to watch the Network all summer long, for those feelings of grandeur.

Tostitos: Salsa Commercial

I LOVE this commercial. It has such a beautiful and simple concept. The very first image of the flower opening to reveal this vibrantly colored salsa dancer with the sun rising poetically behind her is a image of art. The environment is also cleverly presented in the first few frames. It is disguised as this natural-looking hillside that really leaving the viewer to soak in the style and flavor that these colors and images provoke. After the fan is opened into the knives the images of onions, tomatoes, etc. all tell you immediately this is a food product, so at the 10 second mark of this 30 sec commercial the product is already being subliminally placed in you mind. Good job marketing guys. Good job director too, because as this dancer moves through the "garden" she gets faster, spicier, and chaotic in her movements...all traits that one can easily associate with taste. All that is swirled into a jar and ready for consumption, placed neatly next to its brother product (good cross promotion their guys). yet still surrounded in the images of the wild, Latin "garden" of vegetables.

I love it.

Hell's Kitchen - S7E5 (H1)

6-22-10 / Hour 1

One member from each team has switched!!!

Scott goes to the girls team and Autumn to the boys! She is such a BITCH! She didn't even say goodbye to the girsl...no hugs no emotion at all! Nilka "You're already on the blue team?" Autumn "Hell yea!" Bitch... And Scott...he's just running his mouth, again.

Butchers outfits? PIGS! Good things Ramsey isn't having them kill those cute pigs. They do however have to chase them around which is a hilarious way to get your ingredients list...I wonder what the dishes main meat is gonna be? Scott is already telling people what to do and yet: Scott "I'm new to this team so I'm just going to sit back and observe." Bullshit.

Challenge time! Did Jason just call Autumn "baby girl"? Scott, shut the fuck up! These women know how to cook, not perfectly all the time or anything, but they are chefs too...and look Ramsey hate YOUR idea about putting prunes with sausage. Gross dude, GROSSS!!! (As if I know anything about fine dining ^_^) Jason and Autumns dish? R: "Tastes nice...too sweet"...20 minutes earlier Autumn "I wanna make a honey mustard dip" Jason " I'm not too hot on the mustard idea." ... Jason listen to other's suggestions.

This quirky music relates brings me into the silliness that is inherent in these reality shows. Of course the way the clips are edited and the music is added is all very contrived...set up to make me sympathetic for Maria. It's a good thing that first thing after the commercial break is her losing the challenge for the women. Way to play with my emotions FOX.

Punishment: Cleaning mud off pigs...sorry ladies, and Scott
Reward: Spa Day at a Hot Spring...go Blue Team!
