Tostitos: Salsa Commercial

I LOVE this commercial. It has such a beautiful and simple concept. The very first image of the flower opening to reveal this vibrantly colored salsa dancer with the sun rising poetically behind her is a image of art. The environment is also cleverly presented in the first few frames. It is disguised as this natural-looking hillside that really leaving the viewer to soak in the style and flavor that these colors and images provoke. After the fan is opened into the knives the images of onions, tomatoes, etc. all tell you immediately this is a food product, so at the 10 second mark of this 30 sec commercial the product is already being subliminally placed in you mind. Good job marketing guys. Good job director too, because as this dancer moves through the "garden" she gets faster, spicier, and chaotic in her movements...all traits that one can easily associate with taste. All that is swirled into a jar and ready for consumption, placed neatly next to its brother product (good cross promotion their guys). yet still surrounded in the images of the wild, Latin "garden" of vegetables.

I love it.
